History
Building on our Foundation
SCCS was founded in 2006 by two women with decades of experience in early childhood education. Despite public and private investments, SCCS founders witnessed financial hardship and organizational stress faced by independent centers serving low-income communities and families of color.
The founders wanted to change the nature of child care operations in order to improve access to high quality education and care for all families. Their concept of a shared services consortium aimed to address the challenges they witnessed in the field.
Sound Child Care Solutions began with one preschool and one classroom serving 17 children. SCCS is now comprised of seven centers with 11 program locations, serving 450 children. We have 22 classrooms, nine of which are dual language programs in English and Spanish or Vietnamese. SCCS cultivates high quality dual language programming to help address the inequity of access to education for English language learners.
