Luz Casio, Director of the Refugee & Immigrant Family Center (RIFC) has served as a leader, educator, and mentor teacher for over 20 years. With a master's in early childhood education and a PhD in counseling, Luz has lent her knowledge and talents as a community-based trainer, field coach, and college adjunct faculty.

"If I can teach a classroom with ten children, I can impact the lives of ten children. If I can teach a classroom with ten teachers, I can impact the lives of 100 children."

With a heavy emphasis on diversity, Luz values opportunities to support the development of children as they discover their passions and potential. Equally, Luz enjoys connecting with other early learning professionals, sharing lived experiences and learning new approaches to anti-bias educational practices. We thank Luz for her continued commitment to Seattle's children!
