Immigration-related activity has become more visible in the Seattle area, underscoring the importance of staff awareness and preparedness. SCCS center Directors are committed to ensuring that center staff are familiar with their rights and responsibilities, as well as the rights of the children and families they serve. This understanding supports responses to inquiries or situations that may arise, helps safeguard family privacy, and ensures that accurate information can be shared when needed. Staying informed enables centers to continue operating as safe and supportive spaces for all families.

Given the seriousness of the current landscape, many legal and advocacy organizations have developed practical resources, including those listed below, to support the development of safety plans. These materials are designed to help centers understand legal considerations, prepare staff, and establish protocols that protect individual rights. Leveraging these resources can strengthen readiness and ensure thoughtful, rights-based communication in the event of immigration-related activity.
