Earlier this month, over 120 SCCS early learning professionals, nonprofit leaders, and administrative staff gathered for a powerful Undoing Institutional Racism Workshop & Training. The event focused on understanding the historical roots of systemic racism and building strategies to dismantle institutional barriers that disproportionately impact communities of colors.

Through group activities, facilitated discussions, and storytelling, participants explored how racism is embedded in education and ways in which educators can speak up and out about racial injustice. The workshop further emphasized the importance of accountability, reflective practice, and policy change in fostering racial equity in the classroom and beyond.

SCCS is committed to equipping teachers with the necessary tools and resources to nurture empathy, fairness, and critical thinking. As a staff-led event, we'd like to extend a sincere thank you to all SCCS staff who helped make this event possible, with special recognition of our speakers and trainers--Jesse Hagopian (pictured), Manuel Cadenas (pictured), Cassie Worley, Julie Bisson, and Karina Rojas Rodriguez.
