On Thursday, June 19th, SCCS closed all programs in honor of Juneteenth, a national holiday that commemorates the end of legalized slavery and celebrates African American freedom and culture.

SCCS seeks to create a more inclusive future for all children. Teaching history, even the most difficult parts, encourages children to be kind and anti-racist. By using stories, and simplified language, children can learn without feeling overwhelmed or confused.
As an organization rooted in anti-bias education, SCCS believes that by learning from people's lived experiences, we can all grow in empathy and understanding. To learn more about the importance of Juneteenth, click HERE!
